Turning one is the first milestone we all face in life. When we turn one we become for the first time in our lives a complete unit, a whole number. We are no longer a fraction of a year old. We become a complete-year-old. When we complete a full year of life it means we have survived through the four seasons, stock market fluctuations, global politics, inflation, and have proven without a doubt that we are able to take on any challenge that life has to offer. Bills, loans, car payments, business investments, marriages, deaths of loved ones, philosophical questions, AP chemistry, it matters not, when we make a complete first year of life we signal to the world that we are ready for anything it can throw at us. Well, maybe not quite, but on a more serious note, I do believe that is the age when we learn to walk. Isn't that at least worth celebrating?
